Story: We had been thinking of adding a height dog to the mix but had no particular time frame in mind. We were keeping our eyes open for all possibilities when Rush appeared on the scene.
Four Mini Aussie puppies came to the All Dogs tournament in February of 2004. Two were spoken for one going to CT and one to TN, and two were going to be left with our teammate Cheryl, while the breeder drove to TN to deliver a puppy. With the prompting of Cheryl and the Okay from Kelly (the breeder) the smallest puppy - a girl - came home that Saturday to spend the week. Kelly would be back on Friday and would take her back unless we wanted to keep her. She came for a week and stayed for good. Her first night in the house she picked up a full sized tennis ball and we knew that it was meant to be. We named her Flare because of her red color but the name didn't suit her so she became Rush. A feisty mini who thinks she can keep up with Blu and Steele in all things she ran in her first tournament in November of 2005 hosted by Flyball MAINEiacs and earned her FD. Rush is currently the number 27 Mini Aussie in the NAFA database. She loves the water and will swim for hours, she could be our dock diving dog but she is a bit small to make the distance. We have discovered that she runs her best when she is on a team with Steele, that she is a decent disc dog and that she sees dead people.
