Welcome Letter We
don’t want to take up too much time at the Captain’s meeting covering all the
events going on at GBOF/It’s Canine Convicts! this
weekend, so we’re including a lot of “need to know” information in this welcome
letter instead. Captains, please forward this information to your team members.
Thank you! Line and Box Judging: First,
thank you to everyone who will be helping with line and box judging! We couldn’t put on a tournament without you! Ø Line judges will be
writing the times on the racing sheets. Ø If you are unable to
fill a seat during your assigned judging slot, please let someone from Texas
Heat know so that we can find someone to take your place. Ø Tickets for the Judge’s raffle will be in the welcome bags Racing: Ø This will be a one ring
tournament. Ø Racing will begin 7:30
AM Saturday and 8:00 AM Sunday. Saturday racing will conclude at the end of
race # 92. We will have 2 minute
warm-ups for every team’s first race on Saturday and 1 minute warm-ups on Sunday.
After each team’s first race, warm-ups
will be 1 minute. Warm-ups will begin when the previous race’s boxes are up. Do
NOT wait for the judge to start the warm-up. Ø Box loaders – if you
need help moving your box, please make arrangements before the race. Please be
courteous to the incoming team and be prepared to move your box as soon as your
race is finished. Ø Per NAFA rules, the
baseboards on the jumps are 6”. Ø Judges will be John
Fairbairn and Karl Ruetz and Steve Corona. Ø There will be a
Captain’s meeting at 7:15am Saturday morning. Please plan to have at least 1
member of your club attend. Ø Measuring will be at 6:45
AM Ø If you discover a
problem with scoring or any mistake in how the racing results were entered and
posted, please find any member of Texas Heat in their crating area. DO NOT ask
the table to help you with a problem or question. Thank you. Lunch: Ø There WILL be a lunch
break each day as close to noon as possible. Ø Pappa Joe’s will be on site
both days for breakfast and lunch. Menu items include: breakfast tacos, coffee,
cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken fried steak burgers, homemade chili, frito pies, fries, and vegetarian selections, along with
canned drinks, bottled water, and many other menu choices. Special Events: Ø Mat Time ·
Friday
night mat time will begin at approximately 5:30 pm or when the lanes are
set-up, and will end at 7:30 pm. ·
Sign
up sheet will be available for 15 min slots (w/o lights) at the head table on
Friday afternoon. Ø Memorial - Our annual celebration of life for our
canine companions that wait for us in a better place ·
Tribute
will take place during Saturday’s lunch break Ø Human Flyball ·
Human
flyball race will take place during Sunday’s lunch
break ·
Pre-qualifying
games will be due by 4:00 Saturday ·
Two
of the top four clubs from pre-qualifiers will be determined by 10:00a.m.
Sunday in a “Mafia Wars” race elimination (whichever two clubs have the most
racing points at that time) to compete for the trophy, bragging rights and an
additional treat. A consolation prize
will be awarded to the runner-up! Ø Raffle ·

Information: Ø Crating will begin on
Friday at 3:00 PM Ø Please pay your camping/RV
fee at the raffle table. The cost is $20.00 per night. Spots available on first come basis. Make checks payable to Texas Heat.
Site Information: Ø If you use the kitchen,
please be sure to clean-up after yourself and leave the area in the same
condition as you found it. Ø If you discover a
problem in a bathroom, please notify someone on Texas Heat immediately. Ø There is no charge for
tables, and feel free to use the wooden tables that are on site. If you use any
tables please put them back where you found them. We are responsible for
leaving the site exactly as we found it. Ø If you move any chairs
that you find in your crating area when you arrive, or if you use any chairs,
please return them to where you found them. Ø Please pick up any trash
in your crating area before you leave. There will be numerous trash barrels
located throughout the building for you to use. We ask that you do NOT dispose of
liquids in the trash barrels. Please empty liquids outside or in the bathrooms,
whichever is appropriate. Ø Do NOT potty dogs in
front of the building where the parking is. Please potty dogs on the side of
the building (there is a door behind the box section leading to this area), and
of course, please PICK-UP AFTER YOUR DOGS. Thank you! Scoring Information: Ø The winner of each heat
will receive one tournament point and the winner of the majority of heats in a
race will be awarded an additional two bonus points. Ø Heats ending in a tie
will result in each team receiving half of a tournament point. If neither team wins the majority of heats
because of a tie, there will not be an extra heat ran but both teams will split
the two additional bonus points. If neither
team wins the majority of heats because of a double loss in one of the heats,
there will not be an extra heat ran and neither team will receive bonus points. Ø Division tie-breakers. ·
