Sasha
Hey there. I'm Sasha. Mom calls me Bugs. Don't ask me what
it means; she comes up with some strange names for us dogs. I
live in a full house with my humans Annette, Bret and little
Kaitlyn, and my canine siblings Zak and Sammi. I was rescued
in May 1996 from a shelter in Duncan, BC when I was a year or
two old. I thank my family for that by protecting them and
rewarding them with loyalty, cuddles and kisses.
I got started in flyball because I wanted to do something other than just take my parents to the park to play ball. They heard about this fun game and we were hooked. I started training in May 1999, and I competed in my first tournament in March 2000. I never was as speedy as my little brother, Zak, but I ran a reliable 5.5 seconds. After years of playing, I'm taking a sabbatical from flyball. I told Mom in no uncertain terms that I'd had enough. We were at a tournament and I was returning with the ball; I spat it out just before the last hurdle and walked off the course. Thankfully they understood!

I still go out to flyball practices, but I help Mom with Kaitlyn
instead of doing drills, and we play fetch with my multi-coloured rubber
ball on a rope. I also join the team at the sand hills once in a
while, but while they run up and down the hill like fools, I follow
my nose around and dig holes in the sand. My favourite activity
would have to be taking the family to the park, though. I guess I'm
settling down as I mature in years. I might try my paw at flyball
again someday, but right now I'm just enjoying the easy life!
