About the Storm Riders Flyball Team
The Storm Riders Flyball Team is sponsored by Storm Warning Flyball club, a not-for-profit organization giving it's time freely for the love of teaching dogs and their owners the importance of a job. Just like people if they aren't kept busy, dogs will get bored, often to the point of getting into trouble.
We are a family oriented club, making our goal very easy; to have fun with our family, friends, and most of all our dogs. We also work with rescue groups and put on demonstrations at special events.
Team History
Flyball was started in South Florida by Stacy Santarone. In the spring of 1997 she formed the Waverunners Flyball Team. The team began competing in August of 1998, and sponsored their first flyball tournament in October of 2000.
Through Waverunners flyball caught on and the team started growing fast. In July of 2001 the group decided to divide and form a second flyball team and the Storm Warning Flyball Team was created. In June of 2002 the sport once again grew and another team was formed, which they named, Too Hot Too Handle. Then in 2003, two more new teams were formed, Storm Riders and Raiders of the Lost Bark. In 2005 Raiders of the Lost Bark relocated to Northeast Georgia and was renamed Double Dog Dare, while Storm Riders continues from it's location in Fort Lauderdale.
We would like to give a special thank you to Stacy Santarone and the Waverunners Team. Without them, flyball in South Florida would not have grown to where it has. Thank you Stacy for all your hard work in starting the wonderful sport of flyball In South Florida!
