Kylie (whose name was Chance) and her sister were found by a deputy in Mills County Iowa scavenging off a deer carcass and McDonald’s sack. She was estimated to be 6-7 weeks old at the time. She was going to keep Kylie after giving her sister to a friend of mine, but after about four months it was evident that Kylie and the deputy’s other four Aussies were not getting along real well and she wanted to find a good home for Kylie. The deputy wanted to make sure she went to a home where she could be busy and active. She got a hold of me through the mutual friend and the rest is history!
I acquired Kylie when she was about 5-5 ½ months old. Kylie had a pretty rough start to life and we have had several confidence and socialization issues in her training. I did find that she was pretty smart, loves to do tricks, and loves to RUN!
I started her in obedience, flyball, and agility to work to boost her confidence and get her in as many different settings and situations as possible. I had participated in flyball classes with an Aussie/Collie mix years ago and decided to try Kylie. She likes agility (especially tunnels), she likes obedience, but she LOVES flyball. She started in flyball when she was about 1 ½ years old and ran in her first tournament at 2 ½ years old. She achieved her first two titles at her first tournament! Flyball has really boosted her confidence level and it has carried over to her other disciplines.
