Steele led the
way in Region 10 as the NAFA points leader, or "Top Dog" for over
seven years from 1998-2004. She was the first in the region to earn her FM,
FMX, FMCh., and ONYX titles by earning over 20,000 NAFA points. She was also
nominated, along with three other Region 10 dogs, for the Region 10 Dream
Team in 2000.
Steele
was honoured to run with teammates from four different teams: Fast Company
(Region 2, Ontario); FAME (Region 10, Moncton); OverRovers (Region 10, Fredericton);
and finally with the Push Play! Flyball Club (Region 10, from all over NB).
She was a tireless height dog who would easily run every heat in a tournament
right up until her retirement which, at age 11, she has more than earned.
Like her sister
Denim, Steele also holds titles in obedience (Canadian and US), Canadian Good
Citizen (CGC), she is Therapy Dog Qualified (TDQ) and is Herding Instinct
Certified on sheep (HICs). She has also tried her hand (paw?) at lure coursing
and enjoys stealing the Frisbee from her sisters. Steele just may have missed
her calling as an assistance dog ... she loves to pick up anything that gets
dropped, or she will go and drag a blanket from one couch to another if asked
to. She also likes to learn new things, like pushing a handicapped door button
or taking a kleenex from the box and giving it to you. A dropped sock from
the laundry barely has a chance to hit the floor before she scoops it up and
is presenting it to you ... she doesn't even have to be asked!
Steele has been,
and continues to be, an awesome little dog who makes her mom Cheryl very very
proud.
