Quest is a Border
Collie who came to live with Shelley Dow and her family in December 2003.
He was born on August 25, 2002 in Virginia U.S.A., and spent the first year
of his life with a family who did not appreciate his intelligence and loving
nature.
Unfortunately Quest was not
properly socialized during that important first year, so he has had to overcome
a lot of obstacles since packing his bags and moving north to Canada. Since
his arrival, he has completed 2 levels of obedience classes and an introductory
agility course. He began flyball training in January 2004, and at that point
we were not sure if he would EVER play the game.
Quest had a very
difficult time concentrating. He didn't care about slimy tennis balls, and
just wanted to herd the other dogs, especially the little squeaky ones. Quest
has since decided that he really likes to RACE, and he has learned that bringing
back that slimy ball is all part of the game. In April 2005, he acquired
his FDCh-S title - an accomplishment for him indeed!
Quest shares his home with Shelley,
Alex, his little human brother Nicholas and his canine brothers Scatter
and Chase. Quest's favourite past-times are playing soccer, herding pigeons
(and Scatter), and going to work with Shelley. Quest is a challenge, and
time spent with him is never dull, but the love he shows in return makes
it all worth it.
