Denim,
pictured here on the right, along with her two sisters Steele and Indi, is
happily enjoying her retirement from flyball and she regularly comes out to
cheer on her sister Indi in her most enthusiastic (and vocal) way.
Denim started
her flyball career in Ontario in September 1994 as a member of Fast Company,
where she earned her FDCh. title. When we moved to New Brunswick in 1995,
it didn't take long to find a team who needed a little height dog, and Denim
raced in a four-team tournament in Moncton, NB in April of 1997 with a team
from PEI. She was the first FDCh. dog to race in the Maritimes.
Denim went on
to race with FAME (Moncton, NB), The OverRovers (Fredericton,NB) and retired
with the Push Play! Flyball Club of NB on March 14, 2004. She raced in 28
tournaments in her career that spanned almost ten years and LOVED every minute
of it. She's a very very happy dog who likes nothing more than bringing her
ball to her mom Cheryl.
As the 'old girl'
of the family, Denim is still the first one in the household to start up the
play times, however, with a hint of arthritis starting to nag at her front
legs, it's time to let her enjoy her well-earned retirement. Like her sister
Steele, Denim also holds titles in obedience (both Canadian and US), Canadian
Good Citizen (CGC), she is Therapy Dog Qualified (TDQ) and is Herding Instinct
Certified on sheep (HICs) -- she LOVES sheep! She has also tried her hand
(paw?) at lure coursing and loves to play agility for fun too.
Her mom Cheryl
calls Denim her 'tenderheart'. She gives the nicest hugs and knows just when
you need one.
