Racing Dogs

Spam is one of our height dogs, a petite 7 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who could easily start her own fan club, given the reception she receives at every tournament.  Spam is a solid Flyball professional, often running full-time at tournaments.  But Spam doesn't limit her success just to Flyball--she also competes in Agility and is a 2 time finalist at the Disc Dog World Championship.

Mellie, a Border Collie, is a Flyball fanatic.  At 3 years old, she started her racing career with the Tail Blazers and currently holds down the anchor spot in a racing lineup.   Famous for her amazing instant re-run, Mellie measures a bit over 18" at the shoulder.  After just three tournaments, her best time is 4.1 seconds, set on mats over 7" jumps in UFLI competition.  Mellie's favorite hobby is training her owner.

Hotshot is a 3 year old Border Collie mix, who competes in Flyball, Disc, and Agility!  His stamina is amazing, as he will often come to practice having already competed at an all-day Agility event.  He has a ton of energy and is, hands down, one of the most fun dogs around! "Hottie's" best time of 4.09 seconds was set at the Muddy Paws tournament in Salem, Oregon in May 2008.

Kiva is a 7 year old Australian Shepherd.  He has been playing Flyball for 4 years, first with 4-Dog Night in Columbia, MD and now with the Tail Blazers.  He has achieved the FDCh-Gold title in NAFA races.  Besides playing Flyball, his favorite things are chasing squirrels and butt scratches.

Lexi, a four year old Border Collie, is one of our newest (and fastest) dogs.  She joined us after seeing our "demo" in Tigard has been playing Flyball less than a year new, but already gained her (FDCh-S) and become an important member of the Portland TailBlazers.  Lexi is also a  wonderful family pet and has trained her whole family to play Flyball including Junior Handlers aged 10 and 12 years old.

Zoey is a four-year-old, 12-inch tall Cardigan Welsh Corgi who began competing with the Portland Tail Blazers in April of 2008. Though short in stature, Zoey is big in heart: she is a            multi-talented athlete having earned titles in agility, rally and herding.

Cedi is an 9 year old Australian Shepherd and is proud to be a founding member of the Portland Tail Blazers.  She is a favorite of the team because she is easy for almost any handler to run, just "point and shoot."  A speedy little gal, Cedi measures just over 18"; her best-ever time was 4.2 seconds on grass over 8 inch jumps.  Cedi is currently sidelined for surgery and rehabilitation of a knee injury, but lives in hopes of racing again soon.

Bella is PTB's newest addition.  She is a 2 1/2 year old         "Blue-Merle Aussie with a tail."  She is originally from Sacramento, CA but her owner had to give her up due to having too many dogs in the house.  She is a super sweet and smart dog that actually likes balls, versus Nancy's other Aussie named Fridley (who is also sweet & smart).

Breckin, a beautiful red Border Collie, was rescued from a bad situation.  As he regains his confidence, he'll be learning to play flyball with our senior handler and her junior granddaughter.

Rat Terrier Elli is a flyball natural.  After working through her trademark Gecko Toes issue on the box and she is getting ready to start competing.  Elli lives in Vancouver, Washington.  As her marathoner mom's running buddy, Elli is in great shape!

Sadie is an 18-month old Miniature Australian Shepherd that was rescued from a family that couldn't keep her.  After only 3 weeks of training  she is taking very well to Flyball and showing signs of being a super height-dog and future Flyball champion.

Tessa, a 2 year old Border Collie/Australian Sheperd mix, currently has much more interest in chasing her sister Lexi than a tennis ball.  We're still hopeful she will "turn-on" to Flyball; but even if she doesn't, she's still a wonderful pet and great companion to her family.

Thanks, we couldn't have done it without you...

Danya being voted Region 7's Most Valuable Player in 2006 was just one of  many accolades in Danya's Flyball career.  She was an original member of the Mutt-keteers, Oregon's first Flyball team and was also the first dog in Oregon to earn the ONYX, in February 2006.  Her booming voice,is also renowned throughout the region!  Danya is now retired but still a model of solid, reliable Flyball professionalism.
