Tess, a Jack Russell Terrier, embodies what it means to be a most valued player because of the inspiring tale that accompanies her. Tess is a reliable height dog, always getting the job done no matter what the circumstances. In 2005, tragedy struck when Tess was hit by a car. Tess was rushed to the vet who was able to save Tess, but not one of her legs. In the following months, Tess learned to adapt to her new situation that only included three legs. Most dogs would simply be thankful to be alive, content with life, and retire from flyball, but not Tess. Her leg was missing, but the determination and steadfast desire to contribute to her team was still present. Tess and Linda returned to flyball within a matter of months. Today, Tess remains among NAFA's top pointed dogs, ranking 215 of 23,147 dogs and 24 of 1,466 Jack Russell Terriers. In Tess and Linda, we find a tale about overcoming adversity in order to do what we love. At 13 1/2 Tess continues to show great enthusiam for Flyball and brings a smile to the face of her handler and teammates. |
