Flyball is a relay race with each team
having 4 dogs/handlers and is one of the fastest growing dog sports. When
fully trained, each dog jumps 4 hurdles, catches a ball from a spring-loaded box
and returns over the jumps, hopefully nose to nose with the dog after him.
Each dog/handler "team" becomes a huge part of an overall team of
dogs/handlers working on speed and the precision to create the "perfect
pass" between each dog.
If your dog is over 6 months, is fit
and healthy, reasonably obedient (comes when called and not aggressive) and
loves toys (especially balls), then the answer is yes. Any breed or
size of dog can participate.
Note – Dogs cannot compete and
training may be restricted until 12 months old.
This is intended to prevent injury to your puppy.
