Fall
Beginner Flyball Class starts September 14
Flyball is a team
sport designed for high-energy
dogs and their
owners. Your dog will learn the basic pattern of jumping 4 jumps,
executing a "Swimmer's Turn", retrieving
a ball and returning over the jumps. Check out the sport at www.flyball.org
. Ball drive is helpful but not essential. You'll be
strengthening
your dog's recall (that's getting the dog to come back to you!) as s/he
learns the game!
If you and your dog
catch the "Flyball Bug," New River Rapids is always looking for
enthusiastic new members.
Our next Beginner
Flyball training series will
begin with a free
but mandatory "Introduction/Test In to Flyball" on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Flying Fur! We'll do an
introduction to the
sport, teach
one or two basic skills, and get a feel for whether flyball is likely
to be a good fit for you and your dog. We'll be looking for:
- ability to be
handled by someone other than the
owner
- at least a
rudimentary recall
- some
degree of self-confidence
- some interest in
playing the sport
- dogs with no
apparent dog/dog or dog/person
aggression
The Beginner Flyball
class will start on Wednesday, September 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Flying Fur!
The
cost of 7 classes is $70. Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at Flying Fur!. (There will be no class on Wednesday, October 5.)
Call Sharon at 540 552 1351 for more
