The Deutsch family adopted their second dog from Blue
Dog Rescue in Colchester CT in February 2010. We were looking for a
small dog that would like to be part of our family and play flyball.
Snickers is a mix, some people say she is cattle dog, some say Jack
Russell Terrier, some say dachshund, we will never know, but we know
she is sweet and funny.
She was found along a rural road in Polk County North Carolina. The
lady brought her to the shelter assuming that her owners would be looking
for her. The shelter tried to find her owner but nobody claimed her.
The Adoption Coordinator fell in love with her and took her home, unfortunately
her dogs did not feel the same way. The dogs had no appreciation for
an active puppy. She tried to place it with another family but Snickers
activity level was too much for them. It was decided that she needed
an active family and a job. There was space available to transport her
north to Blue Dog Rescue in Colchester CT. The rescue is very familiar
with sports dogs and thought she would be great at sports.
On her trip up north they posted her picture on facebook and a Infurno
teammate saw her and sent me the picture. We took one look at her and
fell in love. We contracted them before she even hit the rescue. We
adopted her on Wednesday and Friday she attended her first practice
and the next week she saw her first flyball tournament. She took it
all in stride. We are hoping she will enjoy playing flyball.
Snickers and her sister Kit get along
great. They play all the time and love to run around the backyard. Kit
loves to be chased and Snickers is always trying to catch her. Snickers
is currently taking Obedience Classes at Divine K-9 dog Training. Then
we will work on playing flyball. Snickers loves to attend flyball tournaments
even if she can't play. She loves to met all the people. We are hoping
that she will be a therapy dog because she loves to be with people.
Theresa and Jessica
will train Snickers but in the end Theresa will be running her.
