We got Cally on a sheep farm in upstate NY. Brian was working in LI at
the time on a golf course where they had a really big goose problem
since they were right on the water. Some of the other employees had
Border Collies and the golf course also hired an outside person who had
professionally trained border collies to come to the golf course and
keep the geese off. Well, needless to say that's where we got hitched
and I fell in love. We did our research and found someone who was
willing to consider us. We tried to go through a rescue but no success
since the golf course was not fenced. We made it to the farm and that's
where Cally choose us. It was that easy. We heard that one of her
siblings was being shipped to Arizona for flyball. She was named after
a golf course company Callaway golf. She loved being on the golf
course, playing with the other border collies, running with the golf
cart and stealing the golfers balls off the greens. She got to work and
play all day, it was the perfect place for her. Brian had changed jobs
a few times, but he was able to bring her to work. His last job move
changed everything for us. He could no longer bring Cally to work and
since we did our research before we got her we had a feeling that we
would be in trouble. With a new baby coming, we had to think of
something fast. The rest all happened by chance. We were in the pet
store one day (buying another frisbee of course) when we saw Kathy's
flyer. Need I say any more.
