 | Cheryl Smagala
Cheryl is the founder, owner and original captian of the Great Balls of Fire flyball team.
She was the handler for Axle and Kai as well as
trainer and coach for most of the dogs on the team. She is now semi-retired from flyball and
operating Training With Kindness in Frenchtown, N.J.

|
 | Amy Callahan
Amy is the current captain and principle point of contact for Great Balls of Fire. With more dogs than
anyone else on the team, she is sometimes known as "Team Callahan". She is coach, trainer and handler for
Oscar, Captain and Dottie
and sometimes handles Hannah and/or Tar.

|
 | Diane Dargay
In addition to being the team's treasurer, Diane also assists with training and coaching. She is
handler for Travis and Dylan. Her dog
Tyler had the honor of being the number one flyball Gordon Setter in
North America.

|
 | Matt Moore
Matt is the team statistician. He keeps records of every split time that every dog has run in every race.
He also calculates seed times to keep our teams competitive, as well as assisting in coaching and pass
calling. Matt was the handler for Spunky and Shadow,
both retired, and is now trainer and handler for Bosco. |
|
 | Nancy Krieger
Nancy is greatly involved in team logistics as well as assisting in coaching and training. We would certainly
struggle without her organizational skills. She also keeps us laughing! Nancy was trainer and handler for her
German Shepherd Dog Baron and is now doing the same for Dani
with much success. |
|
 | Susan Walski, DVM
"Dr. Sue" is our team veterinarian. She also does coaching, training, pass calling, line coaching and
boxloading. In fact, she pretty much does it all! And if that's not enough, she races our Open team's
height dog CJ.
|
|
 | Melanie Ossman
Melanie was a full-time member of our team until she decided to move to New England. She is now the principle
(and only) member of "GBF North". Mel races with us whenever the team goes north and once in a while she
attends events in Pennsylvania. She is trainer and handler for her white shepherd mix
Willow.
|
|
 | Jean Serfass
Jean is the trainer and handler for Jack and Belle.
She is hopelessly addicted to adopting Border Collies and Shelties so its a good thing she has plenty
of property where the dogs can roam.
|
|
 | Ian Callahan
Ian is the second generation of "Team Callahan" and handler for Tar. His starting line
skills have given us the edge in many a heat (or at least kept us even). Ian lives in New Jersey with his wife
Amanda and their flyball dog wannabe Pippie.
|
|
 | Amanda Callahan
Amanda is Ian's wife, Amy's daughter-in-law, and Hannah's handler. She's another
wizard on the starting line and also doubles as a boxloader.
