My husband and I adopted Merlin (formerly Mozart) from the Northern Virginia SPCA in August 2003. He had been found wandering the streets in Western Virginia. As soon as I met Merlin, I knew that he was the dog for me. I saw that funny little underbite of his, and said, he's the one. Plus, when we went to pick him up for the first time (and Alan's first time to meet Merlin), he literally jumped into Alan's arms. I spent the two hour car ride sitting in the back seat with Merlin in my lap. It was such a great day.

He started attending flyball practices soon after we took him home. Though not a natural like his cousin, Xander, he picked up the sport and was on the team soon afterwards.

Merlin competed for the first time at the Harrier Jump Jets tournament in Franklin, VA, November 22-23, 2003. He ran well and earned his first ten points that weekend.
