New England Trailblazers, June 4th & 5th, 2005:  For the regular team we had Sally, Susie, Chance, Alex and Cosmo for the team and Karmela for warm-ups.  For the multibreed team we had Molly May, Eartha, Haiku, Lark, and Shrek.

Bring It!:  The regular team was back in division 2, where we feel a little more comfortable.  This was the first tournament for Alex to run with us- he transferred from the Maine Coast Runners.  He came to us at the perfect time.  Karen needed to have a solid height dog other than Eartha run on Cosmo's team in order to give him a real chance to be successful.  It worked perfectly.  On Saturday, Alex ran in most of the races, giving Cosmo a chance to do warm-ups and do a few races (where he still was a little unsure).  The last race of Saturday he was ready to give it another shot and did perfectly.  On Sunday, we started off with Alex in the race and had a nice warm-up with Cosmo.  The second race of Sunday, Cosmo was up and he did perfectly again.  The racing format was a round robin for Saturday and the first two races of Sunday, then onto double elimination.  We lost the first race of the double elimination, but did not lose any others and were able to place first in the double elimination!  In addition, we got our new fastest regular team time of 19.66 seconds.  All in all, it was a great weekend for the regular team dogs.

Life is Good:  The multibreed team also had a pretty successful weekend.  Molly May was in her second tournament, and has never acted like a rookie.  Lark is getting faster and faster.  Eartha is really enjoying not being with the border collies (little brother can have them).  Shrek had a great time breaking in junior handler, Alyson Devereaux.  However, the highlight of the tournament for this team was that Haiku really did well.  Instead of running two heats and burning out, she was able to run the entire race- even the ones going out to five heats!  She was having a great time, and since it was such a hot weekend, it was great that she and Eartha could split the races.
