What it takes to draw the proverbial "Sword from the Bone" and become a member of ExcaliFUR

1.  You'll be asked to join us for a few practices to make sure everyone (human and canine) gets along.

2.  New members require a unanimous vote in by all existing members . . . our first priority is group cohesiveness.  Nobody wants to be on a team where everyone wouldn't want them anyway!

3.  Every single existing member wrote out a check for $30 to cover startup & maintenance expenses (such as equipment & a fund to draw from to cover rental & tournament fees).  New members are expected to do the same.  We do have a non-profit status checking account in the team's name.  The whole team has access to the records for this account - you'll be able to see where your money went.

4.  Demonstrated understanding and acceptance of our Holy Growl.

5.  If you are new to the sport, we do expect you to help out at one tournament before formally joining the team.  We want you to know what you're getting into.  We also want you to understand everything that's going on before you enter your first tournament (for our benefit as much as yours - this is a team sport).  You will learn a lot by being there without the additional worries of actually running your dog.  It's also very good for the dog to hang out in that environment without anything much being expected of him/her.  This is not an agility or obedience trial - this is something much different (and much louder).  Someone once said that obedience is like dinner at the white house, agility is a wine & cheese event, and flyball is a kegger.  I can't explain it any better than that - you better come see for yourself!  (And you might want to bring earplugs.)

6.  If you are experienced at this sport, you are expected to contribute to the team your knowledge and experience by helping train newbies and contributing to the 'game plan' for practice.

There will be no exceptions - no matter how fast your dog is!

We look forward to hearing from you!
