Dogsmack 2.0 was formed in May 2005. We are part of Region 9, and our team is scattered across North and South Carolina (or the Cack-a-lackies, as many like to call them), and Georgia.
Dogsmack's best NAFA time to date is a 16.88 with Cho (8"), Riot, Vengeance & Razor at the Gamblers/Sundogs tournament in April, 2006. Our best U-FLI time is 16.751 with Vette, Riot, Punk & Razor (10") at the Gamblers' Talladega tournament in August, 2006.
Dogsmack is:
Alyssa Bumgarner
Alyssa lives in Raleigh, and she needs a bio!
Alyssa's flyball dogs: Peanut Butter
Beverly Conley
Bev lives in Columbia SC, where she is a night nurse administrator at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. She has 2 grown boys and a beautiful little grandbaby. In her spare time Bev enjoys working on her house and attending "Lord of the Dance" shows (haha). Bev is a flyball team's dream member: she brings no dogs of her own to tournaments, just helps us run our dogs or boxloads. She's also handy to have around when one of us gets bitten.
Bev's flyball dogs: Fergus
Christy Daugherty
Christy Daugherty is in charge of swim lessons/water fitness/kids programs at Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center. She is married and has 2 four-legged daughters, but only one of them competes in flyball. She loves running and just completed her first marathon (26.2 grueling miles). She may not have the fastest dog on the team, but she can sure outrun any of the other handlers. Christy is on our sister team, Warp Ten Flyball.
Christy's flyball dogs: Molly
Sarah Hatfield
Sarah lives in Cornelius NC, and is currently "exploring her options". That's a fancy way of saying she's unemployed, and still trying to figure out what she wants to be "when she grows up" (like that will ever happen!). She is very active in animal rescue and recently joined the board of directors for Cabarrus Pets Society in Kannapolis. Her very understanding parents are hoping she will find herself soon...and move the heck out of their house! Sarah is the captain of our sister team, Warp Ten Flyball.
Sarah's flyball dogs: Hannah, Renee
Patty Lee
Patty lives in Charlotte, NC with her mom, Sandy, where she works as a certified dog trainer - among other things. She owns a Canaan Dog named Brandy and is owned by a pair of cats. She loves being creative and artistic...and is slightly over-organized in everything she does. Thanks for the schedules Patty. Since January of '07 she has enjoyed running Bart (Sandy's GSD) and is currently training Buster Bear (Sandy's BC) to be a future flyball star. Patty is on our sister team, Warp Ten Flyball.
Patty's flyball dogs: Bart, Buster
Sandy Lee
Sandy lives in Charlotte, NC where she works as a financial analyst for an insurance company. Since early '07, she has been helping with anything the team needed her to do including shagging balls, writing scores, tracking points, boxloading, and running Lisa's dogs. Just make sure you have her attention before you try to tell her anything. She reluctantly lets her daughter, Patty, handle Bart – a very ENTHUSIASTIC GSD. And, now she has a new BC puppy, Buster Bear, to train and eventually run! Sandy is on our sister team, Warp Ten Flyball.
Sandy's flyball dogs: Bart, Buster
Laura Moretz
Laura lives in Woodstock GA, where she works as a professional dog trainer. She is also a disc dog competitor and judge, and is on the Purina Incredible Dog Team. Laura spent almost an entire year on the team (back in 2003) running other peoples' dogs, boxloading, and putting up with our crap while she got Razor up and running. We are forever grateful to her. She has the cutest southern accent and is the funniest nicest person you'll ever meet when she does not have PMS. (email Laura)
Laura's flyball dogs: Hammer, Razor, Riot, Ticket
Lisa Pignetti Peckham
Lisa lives south of Charlotte NC, and does web stuff at TIAA-CREF. She has 2 kids –
6-year-old Connor and 4-year-old Greer. Lisa enjoys emailing people on her BlackBerry, driving, listening to Sirius radio, watching her GPS, and drinking coffee (simultaneously). Which is good since North Carolina is pretty far from Michigan, Canada, Memphis, etc. In her spare time she reads trashy vampire books, works on the NAFA website, and writes the occasional article for DogSport magazine. Lisa also runs with Fetchin' Frenzi. (email Lisa)
Lisa's flyball dogs: Cho, Hathaway, Kismet, Kraken, Punk, Roc, Rooster, Sky, Vette
Janet Rahn
Janet lives on a large farm in Ridgeland SC, after being kicked off Hilton Head Island. Oddly enough, exotic large animals aren't welcome in gated communities, who knew. She shares her home with husband Todd AKA snake guy and her will-not-be-counted dogs, chickens, sheep, goats, horses, snakes etc. She does let daughter Chelsy come home to visit. After all something had to go...might as well be your kids. Janet makes her living in the boarding/grooming/training business, DoggieDoos, because if you're obsessed you might as well do it full time.
(email Janet)
Janet's flyball dogs: Smarty
Jenny Staton
Jenny lives near Beaufort SC, and is the Risk Manager for the county school system (she does her job so well that she inspires editorial cartoons in her local newspaper). She is also a NAFA judge, and in her spare time enjoys gardening, herding, raising sheep/guinea fowl/chickens/goats, going to the vet, reading trashy vampire novels (she and Lisa trade books), and watching Buffy reruns. Jenny currently has 111 (+/- 10) animals at her house and is building an ark just in case. Jenny bosses everyone around and we don't fight it. We're just happy somebody on the team knows what the hell is going on. She is also the esteemed MAKER OF THE MONSOONS. (email Jenny)
Jenny's flyball dogs: Fergus, Hawk, Hobbs, Molly, Reckless, Roscoe
Barb Walton
Barb lives in Durham NC, where she works part-time at UNC Hospitals, which nets her enough spending money to cover all her agility lessons, herding lessons, flyball tournaments, trips to the specialty vet, fancy BARF diet for Stetson, private flyball training with Aaron Robbins, dog photo sessions, etc. When she is not doing dog stuff, Barb loves to hang out with her son Joseph (who unfortunately isn't that fond of dog sports). She is trying to convince her husband Tom to move out to the country so she can have more dogs (her subdivision only allows 3!). She is also Lisa's Life Coach on a regular basis. She has a very wicked dry wit, and she is the team's token Canadian, ehhh? Barb also runs with Blockade Runners.
Barb's flyball dogs: Blast, Stetson, Twyst
Windi Williams-Weaver
Windi lives in Ridgeland, SC where she is the Lab Tech at Riverwalk Animal Hospital and director of Morningstar Animal Rescue. She has an 8 year old son named Will who thinks he is a dog (occasionally you'll find him performing on the agility equipment and box loading in practice) and who also runs Fli in agility and dock diving. The rest of their family includes 6 dogs, 3 cats, a husband and a few rescue dogs hanging around until their new homes come along. Windi competes in agility, flyball, herding and dock diving. Besides the dog sports, she enjoys coaching her son (in the gazillion sports he participates in), playing tennis, running, biking, watching horror movies and collecting codes from coke bottles in order to win cool coke stuff. Check out her website at www.morningstarbordercollies.com. She doesn't like the color orange either - Go Cocks! (email Windi)
Windi's flyball dogs: Fig, Fli
