FLYBALL 101
General Information
******************************************************************
In order to register for a
working spot in this seminar, the Robbins require that your dog is able to do
the basic flyball pattern.
Please bring your own chair
as the DKC has a limited number of chairs (and yours may be more comfortable!).
Due to the hands-on nature of
this workshop, we are limiting the dog/handler pairs. The seminar is open to 15 non-DGF dog/handler
pairs, the remaining spots will be filled by DGF dog/handler pairs. There is a
discount for registering before September 26th. Please refer to the registration
form for pricing.
Due to limited space in the
DKC building, all dogs will be crated outside. Please bring your club tent or
plan to use your vehicle. Dogs will not be inside the building during the
lecture portion of the seminar.
If your dog comes into
season, we will refund the difference between the working spot and an auditing
spot at the time of your registration. Dogs in season will not be able to
participate in a working spot. Registration for private lessons will be
refunded.
Extra dogs at a reduced rate
($100) will be accepted if the seminar does not fill by Oct 11th. We want to
give everyone an opportunity to register with one working dog. If it does fill,
perhaps a "private" session for the other dog would be an acceptable
alternative. We hope you understand that we want to allow as many different
owner/handler combinations as possible within the Robbins time constraints.
Please note that the "private" sessions are limited, so if you are
considering one please let Barb know.
Since a lot of the seminar
will be covering box work, try to bring your own box if you can. Everyone is welcome
to use one of our boxes, but the specs may not match your own. Ours is a curved
front box, with no center hole (however, small balls fit either hole fine).
Aaron will be happy to do a
limited number of private lessons, both one-on-one and team. This is a good
chance for you to work a dog other than the one you're working, or get a little
work in with your dog if you're Auditing, or just spend a little extra time
with the Aaron. The length of time for the one-on-one, according to the
Robbins, depends on how much time they spend talking with the owner and how
long the dog can last, but is around 30 minutes. The rates are $40 for each
one-on-one session, and $150 for a team session of one hour. These sessions
will be held after the seminar on Saturday. Please let me know right away if
you would like such a session. These
sessions will be LIMITED!
The course work will be done
inside the DKC building on TuffSpun matting.
Please bring your own supply
of clearly marked tennis balls.
Per the Robbins, you are
allowed to videotape the sessions with your own dog (only). No taping of the
lecture portions will be allowed.
