Raleigh, North Carolina                            January, 2007

Welcome to the DogGoneFast Winter WufFest VI!

Thank you for your entries; we are expecting 58 teams and we will have 2 rings.  Please check the other links on our web site for seed chart, racing schedule, detailed directions/maps and a complete list of food sales.

We have managed to provide each team with 35 or 36 heats.   We are doing the “One Schedule for 2 Rings” format, which will mean our club may be short handed as there are extra positions to be filled, please help out with line or box judging if you can, each race judged earns you a free raffle ticket for the special volunteer’s raffle!  We have trophies for 1st, and ribbons for 2nd and 3rd placements, a raffle and our prize table is sponsored by PetSmart.

Racing Format

The Racing Format is described on the seed chart. Warm-ups will be 120 seconds on Saturday and 90 seconds on Sunday.  Warm-up time may be reduced if necessary. Please notify the judge if you do not need the entire warm-up period. The two rings will be separated by a barricade.  Please use the assigned doors for entering and exiting your ring and do not cross behind the barricade while teams are racing.

Geoff and Bill have graciously offered to coordinate as Maitre-D once again and will be providing ring assignments.  Teams will be handed their C2 form to take to their assigned ring.  Please note that you must pick up your C2 form and ring assignment from them before proceeding to the ring.

Venue Information

The Holshouser building will be open until at least 9pm on Friday night; you may drop off your flyball boxes if you wish.  There is no room for team crating in the racing building, exceptions have been given for judges, for folks that have special needs and for particularly old or young dogs.

Friday night racing

We are holding Single Dog Racing on Friday night again!  Races are best 3 of 5 for $5 with all proceeds are going to AARF (Adolescent & Animal Resource Fund) You may run against someone or unopposed. If your dog is not quite ready for racing, you can request 5 minutes for $5. This fundraiser is important to us, so please come out and support it! We have received permission to use the NAFA EJS during the Single Dog Racing and we will be writing down the dog’s racing times. We expect to start the SDR by 6pm.

Box Movers

We have arranged for a local fencing and boxing club to be our box-movers. The fee is $10/team/weekend and they will use the money to pay for their travel expenses when they go to tournaments. This group of young adults has been trained so that they can perform box-judging duties for us. Please reward them for their hard work and give your back a break by letting these folks lift your flyball boxes! Contact Irene at icotter@nc.rr.com to sign up in advance.

Leaving the Fairgrounds on Saturday after Racing

The NC State Basketball team is playing Duke University at 3:30pm on Saturday at the RBC Center which is very close to the fairgrounds. I am guessing that the basketball game will finish about the same time that we finish racing. If that wasn't enough, there is a hockey game (GO 'CANES!) in the same arena at 8:30pm. So please keep these games in mind when planning your travel route from the fairgrounds. Let me know if you have any questions and I can help you out.

Contact Amanda Brown if you have any questions:  919 787-8048 (home) 919 218-1391 (cell) or at doggonefast@yahoo.com

Drive carefully and we’ll see you on the weekend!
