What is
Flyball?
Flyball is a four dog relay race. Each dog runs down a 51' lane, over 4 jumps, and activates a spring loaded box to release a ball that the dog must catch. The dog then runs back over the jumps carrying the ball. As soon as the dog's nose touches the start line, the next dog can start down the lane. Two teams run at the same time, side-by-side lanes. Each dog on the team receives points based on overall speed of the team. Teams run within divisions based on their times.
Flyball is a sport that develops the bond between human and dog and promotes teamwork.
Any dog, mix or purebred, can participate in flyball. Training can start at any age, but the type of training will depend on the development of the dog, with intensive jumping and box-work not being introduced until a dog has physically developed. Dogs can not participate in tournaments until they are 1 year of age.
