Mission Statement:

Diamonds in the Ruff is dedicated to improving the life of man's best friend, the dog, through participation in flyball, through offering of training classes, promoting responsible pet ownerships and through community activities including rescue events. Diamonds in the Ruff also promotes the sport of flyball by setting an example of team spirit, cohesiveness and fun at both practice and at tournaments for all ages of participants.

We are a fun, enthusiastic group of people that love our dogs and the team sport of flyball. The goals of our club revolve around the fitness, health and well-being of man's best friend. Enthusiasm and a good sense of humour are the only pre-requisites! We have a lot of laughs both at practice and tournaments while enjoying the company of our best friends, the DOGS!

The primary goal of our club is to maximize points earned by our dogs. We balance faster and slower dogs to make up teams that will do well in their divisions earning points and titles. We also like to be competitive and try to apply strategy when we race.

We are the most active flyball club in Saskatoon. We race in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba and Minnesota (one team goes each year). We emphasize the team aspect with everyone helping out each other!

This year at our tournament, we put together our fastest team yet. The team members were Bella, Jake and Rudy. They set a new club record of 18.094 seconds!! Our previous club record of 19.334 seconds was set in April 11/12, 2009. The team members were Jake, Toby, Thomas and Heidi. Way to go DIAMONDS!

We believe that any dog can be taught flyball. We are constantly re-evaluating our training techniques to be better, safter and get the best out of our dogs. We have attended the Touch 'N Go seminar (September 2008), the Springloaded Flyball seminar (November 2006) and Coaching the Canine Athlete with Christine Zink (June 2006). We incorporate principles from "Control Unleashed: Creating a Confident and Focused Dog" by Leslie McDevitt into our training.

In September, we host a tournament and celebrate flyball, our successes and our anniversary in style!

Families and Junior handlers are welcome!

We teach a limited number of classes so book early if you want a spot.
