The puppy flyball class is designed for the puppy. We use techniques taught to us by Touch'N Go (current world record holders), Spring Loaded, Rocket Relay and others to teach dogs the basic elements of flyball (jumping, recalls to the owner, swimmers turn on the box, playing as a reward, building speed, etc.) except we do most of the work on a special ramp instead of a flyball box.
The goals of the puppy flyball class are:
1. For owners to have fun with their dog
2. To strengthen the bond between owner and dog
3. To learn the basic components of flyball
Basic components are taught separately to start!
Pupppies do not get to hit the flyball box until they are a year old. We don't want to injure any growth plates!!
Also added into our class are some relaxation and focus exercises which com from the book "Control Unleashed - Creating a Focused and Confident Dog" by Leslie McDevit"
Our head instructors have been competing successfully in flbyall for over 9 years!
Dogs wishing to participate in a beginner class should have reasonable social skills with other dogs. No previous training is required but it does help with focus if you have taken some puppy obedience.
We accept puppies of any age into our classes and will tailor the exercises to their needs!
