Janie is the #1 Black Mouth Cur in NAFA!!

Janie walked in to a bar in Virginia Beach at 4 months, and ended up with us through Ridgeback Rescue. She came as Jane Doe and Janie just seemed to fit. When she was about 2 years old, I found 'her' photo in the dog atlas under some UKC breed called American Black Mouth Cur. Who knew?! Seriously, did lots of research, took her to see 3 breeders and eventually found her line in Mississippi.

She's super people soft (although quite demanding for attention), and super body hard when prey drive kicks in. This girl has run straight up a tree (no branches lower than 7'), runs around with holes in her (shells on the beach, razor wire, etc) and has even tangled with a beaver.

Runs: Naked. All positive stuff for this one, so it's all about her for Scott in the racing lane. And for a hound dog, you'd better keep things interesting in the run back…. that silly ball is in the s-a-m-e place every time - ho hum.

Favorite toy: "Purple" - a Premier 'Busy Buddy' - if you owners of high energy flyball dogs don't know what that is, you're missing the next 'sliced bread'. Also loves fireworks (yeah, great - spends the 4th in a crate!). In flyball, it's the squirrel and the chipmonk tree - What's your favorite Janie toy?

Hobbies: Bringing me "Purple", hunting, lure coursing fiend, swimming (NOT in charge of oxygen to her body… she'll swim until she sinks), and therapy dog work. She worked in NYC after 9-11, in New Orleans after Katrina, and most recently at Operation Purple - a camp for kids with deployed military parents. Janie has even flown across the country in the cabin!

Janie is my special girl - one of those once in a lifetime dogs.
