SKYE |
Breed: Border Collie DOB: 2-14-03 Highest Title: FDCH-S |
Skye was the 2nd Border collie in our home. We took her home, after Shadow picked her out from a rescue center in NY in Sept 2003, when she was about 7 months old. She has turned out to be the perfect match for Shadow and our family. |
Skye came to us with no skills what so ever. She was very afraid of the crate, would not go near water, and couldn't catch a ball to save her life. You could tell that her first 7 months were not a lot of fun for her. But when we took her home that weekend she walked into our home like she had been there forever, you could say she knew she was finally home. We worked with Skye for many years everything you can think of, manners, commands, food, crate, water, and playing with a tennis ball, Frisbee, tugs and flyball. It has been a long road with Skye but worth every minute, she is the most lovable dog, she will cuddle on your lap like a 5-pound pup. She will go in her crate to take a nap, is now playing in the reservoir with Shadow, Selma, and Slingshot and can catch any ball or Frisbee thrown her way!! We tried flyball from the time we had her and despite the long training process - Flyball was not for her, she is such and intense dog she can not concentrate on the game and ends up hurting herself every time we put her on the track. So sadly I have to retired her from a game she loves but can not handle. Skye will continue with every thing else is the King in chasing Frisbee's! Skye turned out to be a perfect dog for what we(or should I say Shadow) picked her for and that is to be Shadow's best friend and a member of our family. All the while living the life of a Border Collie. Full of Love and Fun |
