History: Marcel is the half brother of Gaston and definitely inherited
their father's good looks and intelligence. He is educated in obedience,
flyball, agility, field trialing, therapy work and also performed with
the North American Dog Racing Association. He is a self-taught Flyball
Master. After attending only two flyball practices he was competing in
his first ever flyball tournament and was soon to become MVP of his
team. He completely intimidated his adopted brother, Arthur, who finally
himself mastered flyball and was soon in competition form himself.
Marcel is a terrible flirt and a tease. He loves life and everyone in it
but is the first to step up to a challenge and protect his older brother
if ever threatened.

My first indication of just how much he loved the water came as a
complete shock and in a very unusual manner. Here is Marcel's story: "It
was Christmas Eve and we were heading to Grandma's house for the
holidays when my Mom stopped at a lakeside park to let us have a little
run. I wouldn't have done it except that I was off leash, and down by
the water's edge I saw the geese. One of them stood straight up and
flapped her wings and I knew she was taunting me. I couldn't stop
myself. She had asked for it. I jumped! Crashing through a thin layer of
ice I started swimming towards the flock. What a fool I was! I looked
back to see my Mom. I couldn't tell if she crying or laughing but I
could tell that she was just about to come in after me, did I mention
that the air temperature was 15 degrees below zero, so I turned around
and swam to shore. My ears were icicles, my winter coat was frozen solid
and I was oh so cold. My Mom scooped me into her arms and soon we were
inside the car, the heat blasting and a blanket wrapped around me. My
Mom called home to tell Grandma of the "incident" and that we would be
delayed, and then she announced that she and I were going to join the
Polar Bear Club on January 1st. It never happened...
