Major Tom, he is a one of a kind dog. If you are wondering how he came by his name… his human is a very big David Bowie fan, and felt that Major Tom was very fitting name for his handsome boy! In the race lanes he is known as the “Freight Train”! He is a large powerhouse that runs like the wind.

Major began racing in August 2002 and has been going strong since. Major runs anchor on the team, and he is very competitive, he will push his hardest to beat his opponent back. As he comes across the finish line he gives a slight glance over his shoulder just to see if he won the race.

Major loves to play flyball, but we may have found a sport that he likes even more…. Lure coursing! At a fun event in 2004 Major was quite the handful! He was so excited about coursing, that it took both his humans to hold on to him, and he screamed the entire time while waiting his turn. Then once on the bunny… he followed it like a pro! He just loves the sport. We have found a group holding fun lure coursing, and Major will be there to chase the bunny!

Major has also been training to compete in agility. He is a fast large dog, and takes some quick thinking and good handling to keep him on course. His human will be able to keep up to him. He will be entering his first agility trials in the summer of 2004.

Major is also working on his obedience, but does not enjoy it as much; he’d rather be running the lure or playing flyball or agility. Major loves to swim, and we hope to get him dock diving this summer as well.
