Deaf but not Disposable!!!

Gus, aka GusTO, aka Gusto-Gustopherson is the official team cheerleader.  Although he enjoys the game, at heart he is lover, not a racer.  The day Mary painted his toenails blue in honor of our team colors we weren't sure what KIND of lover exactly, but we're a liberal kinda team. 

Gus is a deaf white boxer that came to us from Northwoods Boxer Rescue at four months old.  He had already had a hard time of it - weaned too young, a serious case of kennel cough, and passed around a lot when he finally found boxer rescue.   It is the practice of many breeders to destroy deaf dogs at birth.  I am forever grateful to his breeder for sparing Gus, he is a joy to live with.

This was Gus as a puppy - he had just woke up on the couch and was having a "bad ear day."
