Mouse came to us last winter, battered, torn and traumatized. A local rescue group had run out of foster addresses and so we agreed to keep her for just a few weeks, until she could be placed. Because of her injuries, the vet suggested possibly euthanizing her. It quickly became apparent that her right eye had been damaged beyond repair, and so it was surgically removed. What a frightened and sad little mouse she was. Little did we know what a tenacious little dog she would turn out to be. Mousie didn't waste any time feeling sorry for herself, she decided then and there that she had found her forever home. She and our Border Collie Ricky (also a rescue) bonded right away. He couldn't believe his luck—finally someone to play with! And a real job! At last, a student he could mentor and teach essential canine skills such as counter surfing, cat herding, and competitive barking (with the neighbor dogs). Mousie proved to be a quick learner. This summer we joined Alaska Dogs Gone Wild. A bit apprehensive and trepidacious at first, but always up for a challenge, Mousie soon realized she was destined for sports. Flyball has helped give her the confidence and assurance she needed. She has in fact become quite the social butterfly. This winter she passed her CGC. Always in search of adventure, Mousie loves to go on walks and hikes, especially when exploring and chasing are involved. Surprisingly, she is also quite the avid T.V. hound. If a T.V. is on anywhere in the house, Mousie is there watching. She is a big fan of National Geographic - and Cesar of course - but she also particularly enjoys westerns.
